Distribution:
Craugastor milesi is found in three locations in Honduras; Cerro Azul, Montaña del Cusuco, and Montaña del Merendón (Figure 2) [1]. It is found at an elevation of 1050-1841m above sea level [1].
Details:
The Mile's Robber Frog is found in pre-montane and lower-montane forest, reliant on leaf-litter [1]. This species breeds independently of water [1]. a
This species is listed as critically endangered as the populations have drop 80% in the last 10 years for reasons unknown to scientists [1]. Before a single adult male was found in 2008, the species had not been seen since 1983, despite much of its habitat intact [2]. The suspected cause of this is the chytrid fungus [1, 2]. The populations are in such a small and isolated state that a natural disaster or something like tree-fall could potentially wipe out the remaining population [1].
Threats to the species:
Subsistence agriculture [1].
Disease [1].
Climate change (storms and drought) [1].
