Distribution:
Rhinella rostrata was, and may still be, found at one location in Colombia; Santa Rita Creek, fourteen miles north of the village of Mesopotamia (see map) [1]. The range is estimated to be 13km2 and the species is estimated to only occupy ~4km2 [1].
Details:
Little is known about this species [1]. It is known that it is a forest-dwelling species and that it breeds independently of water [1]. The population status of this species is unknown, some presume it to be already extinct as it has not been been since 1914 [1, 2]. They have a pointed, square head and are a yellowish brown colour with dark brown markings (Figure 1) [3].
