Craugastor tabasarae is found in two locations in Panama; Coclé Province and Colón and Panama Provinces (Figure 2) [1]. It is found at 600-910m above sea level [1].

Details:

This species is found in pre-montane forest and is not tolerant of habitat alteration [1]. At night the adults can be found ~2m up in vegetation overhanging streams [1]. Breeding occurs independently of water [1].


Little is known about the current state of the population but there are worries that the Chytrid fungus will wipe out 80% of individuals within the next 10 years [1]. The population is found within two protected areas at present, but the imminent threats may mean that more proactive measures such as an ex-situ breeding program are needed [1].
